🔬 Characterization Techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM)

A core component of my MPhil Chemistry Portfolio lies in advanced material characterization. During my MPhil, I worked with:

  • X-ray Diffraction (XRD) for phase analysis

  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) for surface morphology

  • Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) for nanoscale structure

  • Additional tools: XPS, FTIR, and UV–Vis

These techniques were instrumental in studying nanomaterials, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and electrocatalysts. The combination of these tools ensures accurate structural understanding before further analysis.

💻 Computational Chemistry (Gaussian & GaussView)

Theoretical modeling forms another key part of my MPhil Chemistry Portfolio. I have hands-on experience in:

  • DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations

  • HOMO–LUMO gap analysis

  • Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP) mapping

  • Vibrational frequency analysis

Using Gaussian and GaussView, I was able to predict the properties and reactivities of new catalyst systems before laboratory synthesis. This computational chemistry skill allows me to guide experimental design with theoretical insights.
